    Guidance Counselor

    Middle School

    Full-time 1.0 FTE

    Position Available: August 2022
    Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in guidance and counseling, including course work in such areas as career guidance, tests and measurements, principals of guidance, theory and techniques of individual and group counseling child growth and development and a counseling practicum.
    • Shall have, or be eligible for, a valid provisional or permanent Michigan teaching certificate with a counseling endorsement.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to counsel students individually and in groups regarding educational, career and personal-social decisions.
    • Ability to provide an organized program of activities designed to assist students in personal development with special emphasis on self-awareness, decision making and career exploration.
    • Establish student-counselor relationships in which students have the freedom to express their ideas and feelings. Information seeking and the examination of alternatives are encouraged.
    • Experience with social emotional and college/career guidance.
    • Relate effectively with staff, students, community and parents; work independently; maintain composure in stressful situations.
    • Experienced in dealing with personal and confidential information.
    • Ability to perform duties with knowledge of district requirements and policies.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritizes work.
